I have searched the forums, tech folders and haven't found the answer, probably buried in a thread someplace. Anyway, because of California ARB emissions rule I replaced the B & W Custom Truck Bed with a standard 8ft pickup bed on my 2004 F450 Chassis Cab. I am looking for the torque of the bed bolts.
I didn't torque mine. Battery impact and hit them pretty hard , just common sense with it and don't send it through the box.
I would guess 50 ft lbs of torque
SuperDutyScaler,
Simple answer is if the engine is a 2003 MY has a GVWR over 14,001 lbs and has a flat bed it is considered a commerical vehicle even if you don't use it for a business. Long answer, January 1, 2020 if your diesel engine is MY 2003 and earlier and vehicle has a GVWR of 14,001 lbs and any bed other then a standard 8 ft pickup bed you would not be able to register with DMV unless you get an exemption. The choices for exemption are dedicate it to only operate while connected to a liveable 5th wheel or operate it less then 1000 miles per year or repower with 2010 or later engine or upgrade emissions controls to 2010 or sell the truck out of state. I like my truck it runs great only has 74,000 + miles on it. Original owner put a ton of money into it and I got it for a good price. So for now I have an exemption from the rule.
In 2021 a lot more Commercial trucks will have the same issues.
