I'm cross posting here because I couldn't get any responses in the covered wagon forum.
2000 F250 6.8L with some electrical issues. I'm hoping cruise control and ABS haven't changed much in 20 years.
Here's what happened. I took a trip pulling a travel trailer. About 100 miles in I find I don't have cruise control. I don't have brake lights and no power to the brake controller. When I get home I find a blown fuse, replace that and it blows, replace the brake pedal switch and fuse and all is well. Except now the ABS light is on. Coincidence? I'll be checking into that a little bit more tomorrow as well as maybe just resetting it all by disconnection the battery for a couple minutes.
I did the CC diagnostic and got 2 flashes after I replaced the brake BP switch. 2 flashes indicate BP switch or bad circuit. I went ahead and replaced the CC disconnect switch just for the hell of it, still no cruise.
This trip started out in a pretty good rain and I am wondering if it was just too much for my old truck. I started the new truck journey but it looks like availability is going to dry up here pretty quick.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
I think your on trac to the abs light, pull battery cables and let sit for 15 minutes, i have replaced brake pads before and the abs light came on, hard reset got rid of it. I would not connect trailer till the truck issue is fixed, then i would also look at your trailer to truck plug, make sure its clean and dry, put some electrical grease in there, also check trailer, ground to frame.
Good luck
I hate to put dielectric grease in there because it is kind of dirty back there. I haven't had any real problems with the connections but I got nothing better to do than mess with my truck.
Battery disconnect didn't help. I pulled the wheel and brakes looking for a speed sensor for the ABS and I'll be damned if I could find it. I didn't pull the rotor but I could not find any wires behind the hub or on the knuckle or frame. On past vehicles they seemed to be pretty obvious about their location. It seems like everything I find on Youtube deals with 4wd only.
Do you have access to a code reader? or go to an auto parts store and let them scan your truck, When you say you were 100 miles into trip when trouble started, was rain just starting? I gotta believe its rain or trailer related.

Yeah, actually looking back it was about 130 miles in. Gotta be the rain to have 2 separate systems go wonky at the same time and then the ABS after I replaced the brake switch. I'll dig the scanner out, I think it reads ABS too.
