Hey guys. Had my back glass get destroyed the other day and I've been trying to find a place that'll cut me a new one. Does anyone have a template? I need one to send to the glass cutter.
Hey guys. Had my rear windshield get destroyed the other day and I've been trying to find a place that'll cut me a new one. Does anyone have a template for the rear windshield?

Known as the rear window aka back glass. The windshield is at the front.

The original glass in all the flat windows was tempered glass. Tempered glass cannot be cut. It must be cut first then tempered. If you attempt to cut tempered glass it will explode into lots of little pieces. You can get the rear glass from e-bay, probably for less money than at a glass shop. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1961-1962-1...MAAOxydlFS3ZKu
I took a apart a door recently to remove the good window it contained. I found something I had never seen - the window was untempered, laminated glass, like windshield material but flat. Not too safe, so it went to the landfill.
Thanks CD, I guess my rear window wasn't tempered then given the way it fell apart on me after it had been cracked. Fell apart into 1000 little pieces into my cab. I'm a little wary of buying that off of ebay just because I can't tell what the dimensions are. It looks wrong to my eye, but that could just be the picture.
The ones on e-bay fit perfect with one small difference. The original Ford glass was .210 thick all the replacement glass is made mostly in Thialand and is 6MM, .240 thick. But it fits just fine. And as in the previous post tempered glass by design shatters into small pieces so there aren't any big shards of glass flying around in a wreck. The safety glass that 6t6merc referred to is two thin sheets of glass with a flexible plastic laminated in between them. It is only used in windshields now because a single thickness tempered glass windshield would suck if it got hit by a rock and exploded in your face.
