Have what appears to be a brake shield mounted on the drivers side of my 1999 Ford F350 CrewCab Dually. Any thoughts on what it is and what it was intended for?
Early 99 trucks had the drivers side rear axle caliper mounted in front of the axle tube. Ford quickly figured out rocks etc would fly up and hit the caliper so they designed and recalled trucks so they could install this shield
Thanks much for the reply, makes perfect sense. Thought the passenger side one may have simply rusted off. Assume with the newer Fords they aligned the calipers so this was no longer an issue.
