My employer seems intent on doing the opposite of Government advice so for now I'm at the office Mon-Fri. Different rule for managers obviously who have commandeered all the laptops. But I expect at some point that will change and I will get to spend more time with my truck All seems a bit surreal because so far I dont know anyone who has it. Other than the folk who are staying home pretending they might have.

You mean other than the looks of dread in the eyes of anyone in a grocery store? The dismay of health care professionals who can see the wave of critically ill patients headed toward them while they ponder a lack of PPE and equipment? The shutdown of the hospitality industry? The closures and public orders in many states? You mean other than that?
Just pray that you'll not learn first hand how it's different. We're all in this together and few areas are likely to to unaffected.

Italy has a population of 60 million. USA is about 330 million., 6 times more. All things being equal (which they are not), one might expect higher raw numbers in countries where population is higher.
Right now our cases per million population is lower than most. That being said, none of us wants to be in a race, like you said. Sometimes my competetive comes out and I pridefully view things as a race that are no race at all. Oops. Thankfully I usually get set straight, so thanks for that!
I hope our country can get to a place where it can begin to give help to others. We have so much.
