Replacing front outer CV joint boots
93 Aerostar AWD, need to replace outer CV joint boots. I have the half-shaft off and the new boot. Are you supposed to be able to remove the outer CV joint to get the boot on or do you have to diassemble the inboard side first and remove that. Didn't want to do that end, the boot is okay but if I have to, I guess I have to.

We recently were faced with the same situation on a Probe GT. After pricing two boots, clamps, grease and crimping pliers, it turned out to be the same cost to just replace the entire half shaft with a rebuilt unit.
I believe you have to remove both boots when replacing the outer one.
