The ordering experience for my 19 was completely online, no phone number given so this might have impacted the response rate. Anyways, I would go the dealer's website and look at their directory to find a relevant sales person (fleet sales, online sales specialist, whatever) and then email them a spec sheet with the info. I emailed around 15 dealers and easily more than half of them (i'm thinking at least 60-70%) didn't respond at all or responded once and then went silent and some of these were big dealers (Planet Ford, Crossroads Ford, so on). I did notice that if I contacted the dealership for a vehicle they had on sale on the lot by clicking on more info or request best price, the dealership would 100% respond even if no phone number was given
In the end I purchased from a big dealer, Koons Ford in Baltimore, and from what I can tell was a super low price. The experience was great, low price and final price from the get go. No BS'ing around and the order took around 1.5 months to arrive. Koons Ford was also $2000 less than the smaller local dealer and when asked if the local dealer would match or beat it, they said they couldnt touch it and the only thing was buying from them would save me the time (I'm 7-8 hour drive from Koons Ford).
Mortal of the story: keep an open mind and contact any and all dealer to see who will offer the best price.
I ended up buying from a Ma & Pa dealer that was several hours out of town.
I've bought multiple vehicles from the mega dealer in town and know a salesman there pretty well. Still, they were nominally interested in really working for my business. The first warning to me was that the salesman was unaware of the new 7.3 until i told him about it.
The other large dealer that I talked to was uninterested in even being aware of their own inventory. I was telling THEM what they had in stock. I was told "these Super Dutys sell themselves" by a salesman that was explaining to me why I couldn't ever get a salesman to call me back. Well OK then!
