Recently bought an OBD2 scanner and got the torque pro app to monitor things on the motor. Truck runs great and no problems just trying to stay ahead of the problems if they arise. Truck is an 06 f350 with 115k miles that's all stock besides a blue spring upgrade and coolant filter.
This screen shot is from this past weekend after driving for about 2 hours towing our 8500lb camper at around 64mph into a good head wind. The deltas the whole trip never got further than 8-11 degrees apart while driving.
Is there more I should be monitoring? Any temps I should keep an eye on for getting out of the safe range?
Thanks for the help. Only had the truck since October so still learning stuff on it. Will be updating what im monitoring. Is there certain levels that things shouldn't get past and I should probably shut the truck down if it reaches that temp or level?
Bigge would be ECT & EOT. The engine starts de-fueling at ~250F EOT. ECT should typically not go over 220F, that's about when the stock "idiot" guage starts to move off center and at that point the fan will be screaming at full speed which will generally cool things off.
On my old truck I had fan issues where it wouldn't lock up 100% and I'd have to back it off and slow down on the long hills. Dropping it from 55mph to 35mph would cool it down fast. If you do decide stop, let it idle until it cools down. DO NOT shut it down hot!
EGT is very useful but not in the factory sensor package, you have to add an aftermarket.
Heremy set up. Torque Pro on a Tablet with cup holder stand.
Whats a good cheap but DECENT andriod tablet to get off amazon
Want something to monitor that works good and isnt slow or laggy...I know a lot of cheap tablets are slow and suck
To be honest any tablet will work well. All you HAVE to have is Bluetooth capability. I have regular ol Samsung that is hooked to my AT&T account for web access and maps. There are some nice and cheap ones on the Internet. Just don't go to big, couse it will get in the way. I think mine is like 8 or 9" perfect for the cup holder stand it's in.
I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab E, you can buy them pretty cheap. Make those PIDs easy to glance at and read so you aren’t driving off the road trying to decipher what they read.
