The C3TE-9510-D is the engineering no., and what is actually stamped on the front face of the air horn. It is also used in the service manual for identification of components and adjustments.
The corresponding part number is C3TZ-9510-D, which was replaced by C3TZ-9510-C, also serviced as a Motorcraft CA-243.
Then that was superseded by a C9HZ-9510-E, also serviced as a Motorcraft CA-630.
The parts book I have covers '64 thru '70, all trucks which used the 534 (F, T, N, C series) and it looks like everything from '64 thru '69 used the same version, then in '70 a different version shows up, which I suspect was when the Imco/electric gadget showed up. The last version, the C9HZ-E, also shows up as a service replacement on the 477 engines, even though it doesn't match the calibration/jetting for the original 477 carb.
It's probably much ado about nothing, the gasoline blends available now are so different than anything tested in the late fifties, so re-jetting and tinkering is probably required to really do it right.
Is yours not in running condition, or missing?
Cheers
I seem to remember you've already done this with a 1850 or 3310? I may be going down this road soon, wondering what worked out the best without spending a fortune.
So if the stamped number is C3TE-9510-D, C3TE-9510-C or C3TE-9510-E, they would all be compatible?
The original carb was tossed by someone that didn't know any better and replaced with a "high performance" one. The truck had other issues (ignition) that had nothing to do with the carb so it has never been driven with the incorrect carb. I am restoring this truck and replacing the incorrect carb with the correct one. The previous owner said "the housing cracked" so he threw the old one away. So I don't have much to go off of here.
You can also search for a "List R-2156" stamping as this was the Holley identification if it was not procured through the Ford system.
There are a few of these on Ebay now, but look like only cores for rebuild.
Do you know exactly what "high-performance" carb is on there now? Maybe it's good enough to do test runs, especially if there might be other issues with the truck.
534 stuff is out there , you just don't know when it's gonna pop up on a search, so I just work on other stuff while searching. If you ever run across a good water pump or exhaust manifold, don't pass them up!
Can you direct me to what I should search for to find a replacement stock carb for this truck? When I search for carbs for the 534 I get different year ranges and I want to find the correct one for 1964.
Also can you provide me the part number of the ignition switch and ignition switch lock cylinder?
No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. There's a user on ebay, $29.95. Description shows a new Ford parts carton, so is it used or not?
There are 7 carb tune up kits (C1TZ-9A586-G) and 7 carb master overhaul kits (C1TZ-9590-N) available NOS // GREEN SALES CO. has both = 800-543-4959.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C3AZ-11572-A .. Ignition Switch (Motorcraft SW-353) / Obsolete ~ Available NOS, from repro parts sellers and auto parts stores.
C3AZ-11582-A.. Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder (Motorcraft SW-351) / Obsolete ~ Same sources as above.
These two parts fit a gazillion different 1960/66 FoMoCo vehicles (1965/66 Mustang for example), so both should be EZ to find in parts stores.
I wanted to get the tachometer working on this truck. Mechanic says it is a non-electronic tachometer and has a rotating cable (similar to a speedo cable) that goes from the engine up to the cluster.
Can you help me identify this part number?
I am also looking for the part numbers for the oil pressure and temperature sending units.
Thanks again for all the help!
