All you need is for air to come out as quick as fuel goes in. If the vent is a little under sized fuel will still go in it just wont drain into the tank as quickly and will slowly back up.
I don't understand why everyone has in their heads that the vent line on these tanks has to be bigger than the fill opening. It's just air. You could knock a quarter inch hole in the top of the tank and it would fill just fine. I don't have any fueling issues. I didn't need to use copper to PEX to make a vent hose, I have a stock setup, filler neck, fuel hose, vent tube in good shape off my donor, but I wanted to test a cheap alternative. And pex is the cheap way.
I also also have the original duel tank setup and haven’t had any fueling issues. I had to replace the front fill hose and the rear tank, vent, grommet, and fill hose. Here’s a link to where I bought all my parts except for the tank itself.

That's a good site. I have them book marked for my conversion on my '82 to the newer filler neck. Not sure if I am going to go that route as I don't even know if the filler hose is the same size or not.
