1973 360 Lifter Question

I've got a 73 F100 Ranger XLT with a 360. We just finished installing new freeze plugs and a new carb. The engine runs great except cylinder 6 or 7 has a lifter tick. I haven't taken the valve cover off yet to confirm which cylinder it is but I plan on it. My question is can you take the lifters out without removing the engine? I've seen engines before where you can pull them out with a extractor. For now I'm going to put some Marvel in it to see if it will fix it. (or at least make it quieter) I just don't want to tear to whole thing apart just to find out that it cannot be extracted. Engine has 73k miles on it. Thanks.

To just change out lifters you have to pull the intake. Not the engine.

Before you go too far check the pushrods for straightness and your lifter preload. also make sure what you're hearing isn't an exhaust leak .
