Bed Lining/Coating Factory Step Bars

I have the factory extended step bars on my 2018 CCLB Dually. I am leaning towards having the step bars coated due to the corrosion coming back again! Questions I have is for the people that have had the factory steps done, How was it done? Were they disassembled with the step inserts and end caps taken off or was the entire step done? If the step inserts were taken off, did they go back on without issue?

I'm probably going to do the same thing. When I got my bed sprayed, I asked the tech about spraying the steps. He all surfaces will need to be scuffed then sprayed. He did said they would spray over the rubber and plastic. I never got a price, as the owner that does the pricing was not it. I looked at how to remove the steps and there is a single bolt under neither the step at each bracket.

Taking the steps off isn't a big deal. I'm just worried about them peeling if they just spray the entire step as is.
