2006 Lincoln Navigator Shift Knob Button
Got on the web and found the replacement PN for it (5L7Z-7C488-AA).
Called dealer and they say its on national back order with no expected arrival date. Tried buying it online hoping some one would have in stock and both places I ordered from cancelled my order for the same reason the dealer gave me.
Any one have any idea on how to get a hold of a new shifter button? I am guessing I am gonna have to hit the junk yard but its likely those buttons will be about in the same shape as the broken one I have.
Thanks for any help/advice you can provide.
where did you see this part, i need one to and can't find it anywhere online. thanks
- The shifter button can be removed in about five seconds or less with a flat head screw driver (search youtube and you'll find at least one video).
- If the black button portion is cracked, like mine was, the part assembly (Ford part number: 5L7Z-7C488-AA) is no longer made or available. The only OEM option is a junkyard or purchasing an entire shifter assembly. Attempting to repair via epoxy or super glue was far more frustrating than I'd like to admit and then still did not have a decent enough "slip-fit". It was a band-aid repair at best.
- I was able to repair the assembly by replacing the broken black button part with an identical 3-D printed part. I've attached a few pictures of my broken button (it broken into even more pieces when trying to repair at first...) and the replacement 3-D printed part.
- I swapped out the chrome cap piece and it worked just like new!
- Be careful not to loose the tiny spring; I suggest using tweezers for install.
- If anyone is interested in the step-by-step or needs a replacement 3-D printed shifter button, send me a message and we can work something out.
Good luck!

Hi buddy, I really need your help on this, the car is parked for more than 6 months now. Is there a file I can download so that I can 3D print it? Thanks a lot

As I could not find the part's model to be printed I ended up modeling it from the broken scraps and pictures.
here is the link to my model:

For others who don't have a printer and need help, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can help getting one made. I may even try to get like 5-10 of them made and put up an ebay listing or something if I keep getting requests. Since my original post, I think I've made seven of these. Must be a very common issue with our SUV's after 15+ years of being in service.
Thanks.
