2019 lariat crew cab 6500 miles: I have a rattle in what sounds like the interior driver side B post below the seat belt mechanism. I can hear it at all four B and C posts however the others are not as bad. The one behind my ear is maddening. Sounds like a metal clicking or what I can only describe as two thin metal rods bouncing off each other as I drive. No patterns or change noticed such as temperature or weather conditions or anything else. I’ve searched other posts however most describe issues behind the door panels. Any thoughts before I “RIP” into the panels? Started a few hundred miles ago.
what I have tried based on other posts:
-tightened all door hinge bolts, surprisingly loose
-adjusted doors to fit tighter
-taped the latch
-lubed the weather stripping, before and after door adjustments
-drank lots of beer in the process!
Ditto on the doors. I had a rattle which I thought came from the seatbelt B pillar area. It started with only 2000 miles on the truck. It absolutely drove me nuts! Test drove with Ford technician and he said it was coming from the driver door striker. To prove it, he put a dab of grease on the striker. Noise was gone. He then adjusted the door to keep it from coming back. About 6 months passed and the noise came back, but not as bad. A put a little dab of caliber grease on the striker and noise is gone again. There is so much adjustment to the door.
Get peel-n-stick foam weatherstripping from autozone and run it about the existing weatherstripping (about 4’ run). Saw this on the 150 forum and it works if your problem is the doors alignment
I've yet to encounter any rattles (only 3k miles on my 19), but I've read elsewhere tjat guys are swappi g to 150 strikers, like we did on the previous generation SD's. They have a rubber snubber built in that seems to absorb any and all rattles from the doors.
Find this interesting about the strikers? Sounds peculiar. Well, I think I only have a little over 1,900 miles. I'm still grinning ear to ear so hard I can't hear a thing!!
You are not the first to have an annoying noise coming from that same area, I have one too. I have yet to read of anyone posting a fix. Most have found rattles elswhere, and fixed them, but not in the actual B piller area. I have a couple rattles in my 19, haven't been successful at finding and fixing them yet.
My B pillar noise has been there since my ride home from the dealer where I purchased. To me it's more similar to the noise plastic trim makes. In my case, the drivers rear door window frame, is in farther than the other doors at the top. Because its so tight to the weather strip, Im thinking that it might be causing that noise with the plastice piece on the window frame. The main body of the front and rear door line up, but the window frame is way off. The only way I can think to fix it would to bend the window frame out. Im not comfortable trying that.
