The old fella he got it from said it had been in the shed we took out of for at least 30 years .We haven't put a wrench on the crank yet but my feeling is it wouldn't be that hard to get it running .Air cleaner on and nothing left off or robbed .
Pull the valve covers before the time comes and make sure the pushrods aren't bent or missing, valves move freely &c the valve lash is OK. Solid lifters on these. Big thing back then was the non detergent oils, the rocker shafts and arms would get sludged up and little to no lubrication would get up there. It wasn't the best oiling design ever made.
I had one of those in '66 when I was in the Navy. Bought it from Midnight Auto in San Diego. Paid $500.00 for it then found out it was actually a $50.00 piece. It ran OK so I decided to have it tuned up. The mechanic had to put a pipe on the breaker bar to get the plugs loose. It ran great after the tune up.
