Ford is a dividend stock. If you're a trader, there are stocks that move in big swings. Ford is not one of them.

You and me both brother! In the past, friends would tease me by asking what I was buying so they knew what to sell.

Ford is not going anywhere and will be around way past the time we all die.

I can tell you that as of this writing, with the market still open today, the stock has gone from $9.33 on December 17 to $6.98. It's down 25% since I purchased. But so far today it's up $1.59.
But I didn't really buy as an investment. More to have in my back pocket for X Plan if I ever had to fall back on it.

OK, but that wasn't noted on the original forum. I don't really plan to contribute any more to this one but I had to search it out.

some people/ companies make excuses about why they aren’t performing ....the government which trump even lowered MPG regulations and Ford did not take ect.

gas will be under $2 in another week or two- diesel around $2.50 depending where you live ...and yet Tesla can’t keep their cars in stock.

that means the overall segment is changing to electric faster then what ford / gm/ Chrysler anticipated and they are all behind the 8 ball. They are pouring in billions of dollars to revamp their factories while telsa built theirs from scratch up and running and now taking market share while these companies won’t even produce their first electric car till next year.

Blackberry Nokia palm- they were all relative until the iphone came along and by the time they realized they had to change it was too late.

telsa has built an ecosystem and Ford can’t build that. Telsa will be powering peoples houses via their solar roofs - their charging stations that are nationwide ect.

Generations change and business go out of business or become irrelevant. the new generations coming up that will be the largest spenders going forward hate fossil fuels / hate carbon footprints ect. Yes Tesla has a carbon footprint and so does beyond meat ect but those companies are actively trying to eliminate it and as long as they do those generations will support them.

my rant is , you can blame the Govt - ect but at the end of the day if you can adapt and change then you don’t deserve to be relative.

that’s why Coca Cola is so impressive. They have adapted over the past 100 years and continue to do so and are in great shape because of it.
Much of what you said is pretty true... But gas going below 2 bucks is because Trump deregulated... but also because China is pretty shut down temporarily and so demand has declined temporarily.
OPEC is trying to cut production but really they have little control now that the U.S. is producing. So we are not at the mercy of people that hate us.
Electric vehicles will contribute to lower demand for fuel... But do very little to replace fossil fuels as all the cancerous growth of windmills and solar farms cannot produce dependable electricity on demand. No sun at night and no wind if its not blowing means coal is producing the electricity...even though some politicians are openly stating they will shut down coal... Therefore unless we start building some nuke power plants were heading for other problems. Theres already rolling black outs in California. The national grid itself is incapable of handling much increased demand... so theres a good place for some government action. In the mean time theres little to no gain in eliminating fossil fuels. Shutting down coal as if the only effect will be saving the environment is idiotic...
Thats not to mention the environmental risks from the solar panels themselvs... The coming environmental challenges of disposing of them when they are garbage... ohh and lets not even go to the toxicity of batteries.
My point is... and still remains.... government regulations have been detrimental to the auto industry really since 1974. The coming generation which you refer to doesnt know which bathroom to use... They also choose socialism by a disturbing margin and wear shirts with Che on them as though he was a saint. They believe Venezuela is collapsing because of U.S. intervention in their politics...
Teslas are as good for the environment as free college is free.
Ironically...not.... the global anti fossil fuels movement basically requires the U.S. to agree to self destruct economically while allowing China and India to agree to do nothing they didnt plan on doing anyway as they continue as the planets top gross polluters.
Ill keep my truck because I love trucks. Ill keep my guns and motorcycles.... and if someone makes an electric vehicle I like at a reasonable cost that prys the hard earned money from my hand Ill drive that too. But whatever I do it wont be because someone has decided its politically correct. And regulation by the current band of ******s in D.C. is only going to help whomever is bribing them...

My rant is...the government involvement in 1973 first with emissions and then with 5 mph bumpers combined with the first oil embargo created a situation where Detroit was spending their entire R&D budget chasing after government regs. while the Japanese manufacturers were already building small fuel efficient cars. As were many other nations with small tight roads and congested cities. The big 3 were building what every American wanted. Big barges and muscle cars with big power... For our endless miles of open highway and large percentage of rural or suburban roadway with plenty of room. No one would ever drive a 60s Toyota across Rt 66 in 1965.
It almost destroyed the U.S. auto industry and made Japan the defacto leader. Trying to meet regs.. get better fuel efficiency while bolting a bunch of pollution control crap to the engine made the big 3 cars undesirable pieces of crap.
The popularity of trucks is the direct result of the market rejection of uninspired toaster oven fleet vehicles at high asking prices to actual value. And the lots filled with large vehicles sporting 4 cyl. engines is what Im referring to. They are attempting to meet the CAFE standards set during obama and despite Trump lessening the grip these designs were researched and developed years ago. They cant just change an entire new platform overnight. And its not just Ford. Its global. Mercedes has loads of leftover 19 model year sedans and midsized SUVs with little turbo 4s that nobody wants. At least not for 50 thousand and up. My sister has been in BMWs for decades. The most recent X3 has a 4 with start stop tech.... It is a piece of crap...and combined with dozens of warranty issues many of which are software related its possible she will not even shop them for the next car. They gave her an X 5 as a loaner for the last warranty issue... and that was a sweet vehicle. A proper BMW if you will. But sticker price near 70 thousand puts it in a different market.
The fact that the new diesels are putting out unheard of torque and HP numbers is testament to market demands and great engineering. But the cost and potential costs of the mandated emissions tech kept me in a gas job. In my opinion an ideal answer to the movement to electric drive for trucks would be diesel electric. Its worked for decades in train locomotives. But my cynical nature says thats unlikely because government would lose out on all those tax dollars. The fuel tax as well as taxes paid on electric. But that would solve the storage issue as well as the range issue.
The reason these cars wont sell is the cost compared to the value. Not because people cant adapt. If paying increasingly more for disturbingly less is what is needed to adapt to a changing auto industry then really I will have quite a problem adapting.

In the midst of all doom and gloom here's something encouraging about Ford, circa 1931 mind you. (It runs about 1:03 so sit back and relax.)
