Hello!

My name is Ryan and I just purchased a 1979 F-150. It has a 302 and a 4speed manual. It's a 2wd with an 8' bed and single cab. The gentleman I bought it from said it ran when he had to stop driving it 10 years ago because of his health. It was under a metal roof with just the very tip of the front of the truck sticking out. The engine is stuck and I've got some pb blaster in the cylinders since last night. So I'll be going out there today to try and loosen it up. This is my first ever project and I'm not sure which way I'm going with it, but I want to keep the engine going. It's going to take a lot of work to get it road worthy again, but I am committed. I wanted to join here to ask for tips and tricks on anything I might need help with.

You'll want to check out this forum for you year model https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum38/. Automatic Transmission Fluid is cheap and a lot of guys use it to free up the cylinders. Welcome to FTE.

You may want to drop and flush the fuel tank, or keep a few filters on hand.

Remove it. Drain it. Depending on how bad it is you may want to use a stout cleaner, or another solvent to rinse the tank. I had one bad enough on a ranger from sitting just a couple of years I took a pressure washer to the inside. Dried it best I could and put about a gallon of Acetone in it to drive the water out and give it a good rinse.
