I'm with you. I have several mods to do. Even got the parts, just not the time. And Turkey season is quickly approaching and everything in my world stops then. SkySkiJason, could you look in on. The thread. "7.3 died and won't start back up".

Do i need to remove my DP Tuner when doing these test's ?. I did put it in stock mode when i did these.

This is what i got.
I already knew the transfer case is unplugged.

I know i forgot to hook up the plug on top of the Hpop when i changed the fuel filter and started it. i did plug it back in before i test drove it before the tow.
I don't know if this code C1284 was for that when unplugged ?

I always get the fault on #8. I fell for it once and replaced the injector to get the same reading.
Buzz test. Very little difference between injector buzz's. could hear them clearly.

Now im leaning to a possible plugged foot pickup in the tank. maybe under a load the fuel supply cant keep up. ?

I cleared the codes

i need to figure out what setting to use for the ICP and Map .

funny thing is i just drove the truck wide open where i could and it kept running. i could not get it to fall again.
i know a road where i can test more and do a longer drive.

worse case, i will hook the trailer back up and take it to this spot to test it under a load.

a longer drive.

OK just got back. we have a road by the beach that dead ends at 3 miles.
No side streets. it's farm land.

I know my truck. it love's to live at 80MPH. that's where it seems to run the best and smoothest.
when in my 80HP eco mode i know it will do over 120 easy. and gets there fast.

i just did 8 runs down this road.
The first couple, the truck pulled to 70 and started to flatten out. would not pull anymore

2 more runs and it started slowing to 50 MPH wide open.

2 more runs and it flattened at 50 and stayed constant. But when i let off the trottle. it almost died and dropped a few cylinders.
It started running like crap.

i let it sit running for a few and it smoothed out and took off fine until i stepped in to it again.

one more pass and it flattened out at 40 mph and started running real bad. missing cylinders.

I let it sit for a few and this time is would not clear out. im not far from home.
so i started on my way home, and after about 4 miles it came around and was running good again.

I need to figure out this live recording so i can share it. i found the ipr settings but need to figure out how to set the others.
I believe it's either the Hpop going out or the tank foot is plugged.

You need to check fuel pressure before you damage your injectors.

Yes i will. well got the tank off today. the foot is broke and the socks are plugged up. i could barely blow any air through one them with a full breath.. the other was plugged completely.
I think i may put a new pump on also.. i wounder what it looks like inside and if its pumping at full capacity . I am surprised how clean the tank is considering how dirty all the filters are. the filter i replaced when i was down looked almost the same. i know it only had about 15 to 20 K on it

That is 100% typical of what I usually see and that broken umbrella is why I don’t put one of those POS’s back in the tank.

Ive done my $20 version of in-tank and pre-pump mods to several dozen trucks over the years. People get really carried away with this mod. KISS method is best here.

No harm in putting a new Bosch pump in. But, blow the inlet screen out on old pump and check flow by pumping into a bucket or something. If it flows strong, I’d probably run it.

Well got the mods done and took it for a spin around the block tonight. the truck seems to idle better than it has in a long time.
i only did a short drive and all the power seems to be back. i need to go do a few wide open test runs tomorrow and see what happens..

I also blew out all the fuel lines because when i took the filter chamber off, i found the lines where also plugged on the inside of the socks.
the lines seemed to be clear of all debris. took the fuel pump off and tested it. it shoots the fuel about 3 ft out. So i think its good and reinstalled it.

Sounds like its alive again. My daughter and I did the Hutch and Harpoon Mod this past weekend. This Mod is way under-rated. Truck idles and runs better and quitter too. I wish I had done this 20 years ago. Thanks for the follow up.

UPDATE. As of today Friday the 13th. i would say that the plugged filters were 99% of the cause of the trucks problems.
I drove it to work today. i have to drive up the conejo grade every day. the truck pulled the hill with ease.
it is about 4 miles long at 8%. cruised up it at 80 mph and half way up i stepped in to it.
it pulled up to 100 easy and never flinched. I would say that the truck is fixed..

Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will help others.
