Ah, that explains a few things. Think I should post on the other forum?
Is the pcm the same thing as the ecm aka eec?
All the 3 letter acronyms kill me.
Now I am less confused. Still pretty confused, don't get me wrong, but less so.
He just ordered a new pcm/ ecm to replace the new one he just got. Both original and new icms tested good.
With the computer plugged in have you verified the PIP signal is getting to the Ignition Control Module (ICM)? I have seen a few scenarios where the PIP amplitude is not sufficient to fire the coil via the computer, but with the circuit unloaded by removing the computer the ICM will fire off the raw PIP signal.
This is why I stated earlier this problem is getting down in the weeds which may require more diagnostic tools which start to become very expensive.
rla2005, thank you for taking the time to help us out. That's why I love FTE. Your good advice is very much appreciated.
The Bronco is running! Starts from the seat and everything. Tracing wires from the pcm found one spliced into and grounded and another completely cut. Previous owners work, I want to point out. Cleaned that up, and she fired right up.
Don't you just love a happy ending?
Of course, brother. I hate a thread with no resolution. I discovered FTE when truck shopping and researching 6.0 psd problems. So many threads just stop with no answers. Not helpful to the next guy looking for answers.
And, not to take credit where none is due, I was not present for the wiring snafu discovery. That was all him. I was pushing him to check the pip as you advised, and am not sure what caused him to move to wiring. Though it was clear that someone had done some alterations on the wiring in other areas.
