Go to a place that specializes in camping and outdoors. They'll set you up good.

Try Mountainsmith, I have one I have used heavily for about fifteen years.

Not to be too specific, but get one that has the waist and chest straps. They are great if you wear one for more than 5 minutes.

I like Eagle Creek packs but I use them for international backpacking so some of their features while adding weight are worth it to me. They're not cheap but the quality is there.

I got a Coleman external frame backpack about 5 years ago, it's done good, and its comfortable. It was about $60 new.

Well, I got a Trailmaker last year from Wal-Mart, its a medium size back pack with no frame and it's done well since I've had it. it was about $20 new. I thought you was asking about a full frame backpack above. Being an Eagle Scout, I've done a lot of camping and that bag will hold up very well in all conditions, I forgot to mention, its also water resistant.

I just think the frame backpacks are a bit much, and sometimes uncomfortable. the last one I had was over $200 but it lasted awhile (Eaglecreek)
Thank you though!
I knew I would get some good feedback here!

luv,

My EC is an internal frame, was your's external? I think externals are better for true backpacking but are vulnerable as checked baggage.

$200.00 is not out of line ~ at all ~ for a quality pack.

EagleCreek is not a name I am familiar with, however, if you're looking for REAL good stuff at a fair to reasonable price, see:

yes it was an internal frame, but it didnt have any aluminum parts, it was soft... if that makes any sense, or am I missing the question?
