I was out and about this weekend and came across a F600 dump truck that was sitting on the side of the road. This F600 was approximately a 1970 model. I noticed that the doors on this thing were just like the ones on my 69 F100. Does anyone know if they actually match up? I know they look the same, but are they actually the same size?? The doors on this thing were very smooth with no dings at all, no rust either. Also, will the instrument panel from that joker fit into the 69 F100? I like the look of the round gauges and that aluminum background.
Just a thought and was wondering if it was worth pursuing... Thanks in advance for your responses.
When I went to the junkyard and got the insterments I noticed that only one out of 4 had a dash pad and the others had a painted dash that showed no signs of ever having a dash pad. Also the 73 and newer dashes still look like the 72 and older.
I know of a 600 w/ perfect doors too. What about the windshield? Is it the same as a F100. I guess if the cab is the same then the windshield would be as well. Oh boy, I've been looking for some good parts and they were in front of me the whole time. I just bought a parts truck w/ a bad cab, but now, I can use the cab off of the 600 to make my parts truck a good truck and then use the doors off of the 600 for my 71 shorty. I love fords
I'm trying to remember from spending my youth driving F-600 farm trucks, but I don't believe they had the transmission tunnel like the pickups had. If this is the case, you will have clearance troubles. The truck cabs are mounted higher then the pickup cabs, hence the filler panel between the cab and runningboard. My memory may be failing me, however.
I'm glad to hear they match up. My doors need replacing. I'm going to ****** up the instrument panel and dash pad as well. Cool deal. Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
The F600 cabs may be tough to put on a f100. The biggest problem may be the steering column. On the f600 it exits the cab alot lower.Kinda in the floor.

Yeah, I went to look at the F600 I was talking about, and it was a 73 and up. Not and 72 and older so no go on the doors for me ( I have a 71 shorty). I also looked at the cab floor and there is barely any kind of hump and the column exits via the floor not the firewall. The dash and seat looked good. It did have a radio delete plate that I grabbed. Not a big help to me, but at least I have varified some stuff for others. Also, it did have a 391 and 5 speed behind it. On those old clark 5 speeds the 5th gear is 1:1 and first is like 7:1 so I figure if you had like 2.5:1 gears in the 9" out back then you could run that tranny and have a 4 speed wide ratio and then 5th would be like an overdrive.
