Thank you to everyone for sharing what you think! Especially Prakash for his detailed replies! I really do appreciate it.
It's tough for me to go see a private party excursion since I'm far away from all the rust-free ones. I'm in Toronto. https://www.rbpautomotive.com/detail...rsion/62498185
If you guys were to make an offer on this one in the link above, how much do you think it's worth? Tough to say without knowing the previous maintenance records. I've changed my mind on wanting a white one and I really like this color with the limited package.
First - I agree the pricing should be closer to $20k for this great example of an Ex with the highly desirable 7.3 PSD. But the undercoating, in all honesty, did nothing to either detract or add to the value - let's not overblow things here.
i absolutely believe you are being honest, there is no cause I can come up with for you to be saying anything other then your honest opinion. speaking of your opinion, care to share with us what your experience is in the car collector/appraisal market ?
mine is just going off tricks and tips I have observed and learned at countless high end (Barrette Jackson ) style actions and buying various “collector” vehicles in the process. ( now i just buy/sell/build excursions for fun ) it is in no way a professional appraisal.
that undercoating just knocked it down many notches on the scale.
at this point if you are wanting a pristine excursion it is time to walk away.
the Excursion itself is still in great shape and would be awesome to own but value was that undercoating severely undermines the ability to call it pristine, it now falls into much more difficult to value lower value class “ clean modified”
to me it knocks it down from a $20-$23k vehicle to a 14-18k
forget the fact you know their was minimal rust, when you go to resell it the new buyer must assume the undercoating is covering unknown amounts of corrosion or other problems
I agree with those sentiments. Bottom line is this, undercoating and black paint don't make rust go away. To me it's a red flag of something being hidden, and that always involves more money later on. BTW, for a Jacksonville NC vehicle, it didn't look bad in the early pictures. Shooting the black on it is not a plus to me.
Mine has 105K too. It spent all it's life in CA until late last July. I inherited it. There is absolutely no rust anywhere.Unfortunately the paint is really showing issues from being outdoors. I've been back and forth about selling it. After seeing this post I think I'm keeping mine for now.
