Tried to decode vin, not a whole lot of info, and the "officilal Ford site declared my vin invalid...there is no catagory for the 6.9 idi. So, how do I go about finding out more info like axle ratio, (door tag does not translate into a ratio that makes sense...3.54, but engine revs seem way to high at 55mph for that ratio...have 3.54 in school bus I drive, an e350, rund around 2000rpm at 55) trans type (either a t18 or t19 borg warner) fuel tank capacities and other tech info? Thx!!!

Post the VIN, all the codes printed on the Certification Label or post a pic of the label. ALL of it will be decoded.
Your "About Me" profile says 1984 F250. It would have either a Dana 60 or Dana 61-1 rear axle.
All diesel idi trucks with 4 speeds came originally with t19's. If it's a 4x4 truck, it would have either a 3.54 or a 4.10 gear ratio. It could have more selection if it's 2wd. Post the code on the door sticker.
Ok.thx for the replies!! Found Garys site shortly after posting... Door label I think says "73" indicating 3.54s, but the tag is old and hard to read...even in the sun with a big magnifying glass...
Yes, bus has OD...probably what makes the difference...and is a Super Duty E450...2001?
