When I bought my truck I thought "No i'd never ever use 4 wheel drive, no point in buying a truck with it" Now that I buy a truck I want to go offroading BAD! and i'm probably going to be moving up north where it would be in my best interest to have it.
And I thought "On the I-6 will be enough, i'm just gonna go back and forth, and haul crap a couple times a month". But now that I have been here ya'll have turned me into a speed freak!!!
So i've had it for like 2.5 months and 1.5 months into having it I alredy want something different. Oh why oh why have ya'll one this to me? And most importantly WHAT TO DO!!!!
I ran into the SAME exact problem. I was about to convert my old 2wd to 4x4, it can easily be done on a ford because the parts all interchange (unlike chevy or dodge) from 2wd-4wd. I was about to buy parts and got smashed into.

I think I must be a bit odd - I can see no point in getting a pickup without four wheel drive. You need to remedy your lack thereof quickly, so you too can jump out in cold weather to lock the hubs......

Ok i'm gonna do it, but it's gonna be a couple months before I do it. I gotta put new tires/shocks on it first and put about a grand into the loan, thats gonna run me dry for a while.
Now if I could only get someone to buy that darn camper top!
Fiend - I think I have your solution - Move down here to the deep south. It's so built up that there's no place left to go 4 wheeling, dirt biking, camping or anything else. You'll get so tired of getting kicked out of places and fined that you will discover that you don't really need a 4x4 to run around in the asphalt jungle.
If that doesn't sound appealing, maybe you should stay where you're at and get what you want.
Good luck on your search and have fun (as I'm sure you will).
I'm havin the opposite problem fiend. I have my 4x4 and wanna build a hot rod truck. Right now I'm looking for a mid 60's to early 70's F100. But then again, I'd never be without my 4x4 either. Then I like my vette for Saturday night cruisin........and my 280Z for everday drivin cause it gets good gas mileage and looks nice. Then I want a 69 Mach 1.........
I know what you are going through. On some of the guitar BB's that I go to, it is known as GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome. It never fails, someone will post about new stuff and everyone starts drooling over it.
I'm jonesing for a new guitar, and the one I want won't be available for a couple of more months. So, I feel your pain.
