Howdy Fellas,
Purchased my 2019 F-150 2.7 Eco in September. The transmission has clunked into gear since the day I drove it off the lot. In November I got my free dealer oil change and informed the dealer of the clunky transmission. The dealer updated the PMU.
Lately I noticed a transmission delay. It’s most notable when merging into highway traffic. While on an on ramp at around 30 MPH and accelerating there is about a second delay before lurching into gear and accelerating into highway traffic.
Needless to say I’m not happy. Obviously I’ll take it back to the dealer.
Has anyone else had this issue in a 2019?
Wondering if removing the battery leads would make the transmission ‘re-learn’ shifting?
You probably should disconnect the battery for several minutes to let the transmission re-learn since it's doing some funky things.
I on the other hand have avoided disconnecting my battery for anything even when installing aftermarket lighting. My 10 speed has been perfect since day 1 so I don't want it to relearn.
My truck has done the delay and lurching into gear since it was new. I have brought it to the dealership twice, but Ford says it’s normal and they won’t do anything about it. I’m not happy about this and I’m going to continue to push for them to do something about it.

I’ve owned many new Ford F-150’s over the years. My 2013 F-150 3.5 had the transmission delay.
Now my 2019 has the delay and lurching into gear. It’s not ‘normal’ as Ford says.
If the dealer can’t fix it, I’m going to the Ford Regional Service Manager next.

I agree. I have owned a lot of new F-150s over the years, and this is the first one I have ever had with this issue. It pisses me off that Ford seems to want turn a blind eye to this, because this is definitely not right.
Just curious, but does it do the same thing if you're in Sport mode? Its been my experience that Ford's engine / transmission programming strategy for "normal" mode is to first bring on turbo boost then downshift. At low speeds it can take a second or two to produce boost. Sport mode changes the entire throttle & transmission mapping. Things happen a lot faster.

I need to switch it to sport mode to see. I haven’t had the truck in that mode. My truck feels as though it hesitated and then the transmission catches and lurches forward. It happens if I slow down and then get back in the gas.
