It is WORTH LESS! It is inside a drawer that you can barely get you hand in and since I keep a bunch of stuff in there, it has to come out and now no place to put my chit! Forget it...
Yep, dumb. Good idea, poor execution. It's an afterthought, should have put it in the console lid or something.
I use apple carplay exclusively, and this charger has become a toy for the passenger. Plus it ruined that cubby.
They wear out!! From the wiki: "... Micro-USB[4] and USB-C receptacles are both designed for a minimum rated lifetime of 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal. ..."

What does wiki say about the lifespan of the wireless charger? Lol.
Apropos or our lifespan the wiki points out: ‘… Low infection risk – For embedded medical devices, transmission of power via a magnetic field passing through the skin avoids the infection risks associated with wires penetrating the skin ...”
I agree. I plug my phone in using the 12 v power point. With Apple car play I no longer have the outside temp. Only plug my phone into the USB if I want to use Waze. I like the sync screen more than the Apple car play screen.
On the wireless charger thing I plan to hard wire one in someday in a place that suits me. Not in my little covered storage. Perhaps even on the top of the dash. Not sure yet.
Just keep it plugged in the USB and when you want to use Waze, just turn on Apple CarPlay.
This way, you’ll still have and be able to use the SYNC screen and all of it’s features plus you’ll have the outside temp via the SYNC screen.
So this might not be the same thing and you might already know this... Just this morning I plugged my phone in for the first time (not a car play fan either) however when messing around with it
plugged in there is a button on the bottom left I think it was... takes you to a screen of apps. Mine i think was three pages wide so you can slide between them... one of those apps think the (ford pass app logo) was an option. click it and presto... back to the sync screen. I didn't play with it any more from there... might not be full access but if you have not seen that yet you might want to check it out and see if it gets your back to what you are used to.
You have FordPass on your phone and when your phone is plugged into the USB port and not in the Apple CarPlay mode, those apps are supposed to come up because they’re part of AppLink.
When you’re in the Apple CarPlay mode, most of those apps will be missing.

Have you played with FordPass?
Not really, doesn't seem like there is much to play with there. I will do some additional investigating of the interface but it really did "appear" to swap back and forth from sync to car play all while still being plugging in to the usb, possibly just an oversight on my part though.

Next time you take a drive and have your phone plugged in, just tap the FordPass on the SYNC screen. You can check vehicle health and it’ll let you know if the vehicle has any alerts. True, not much info but it’s nice to see.
Also, after you turn your vehicle off and unplug your phone, tap the FordPass app on your phone and look at your vehicle details. It’ll show oil life remaining, fuel level, tire pressure, health alerts and more.
You have a 2020 so you’re able to do much more with FordPass than I can do with it on my 2016.

Gotcha, I will look at it some more. I have seen what you are talking about inside the ford pass app. It is great for remote starting of the truck. I can even do it through my apple watch in the morning while I am finishing getting ready for the day... my how tech has changed things for us. Guys at work call me Dick Tracy when I start my truck with my watch. lol
