Does it matter which DEF I buy? As long as it’s API certified it should be good, right?
Locally I’ve seen Peak BlueDEF and KleenDEF. The former is twice the price of the latter.
No I don’t care about that. Was merely trying to humorously point out the irony of DEF. That we are forced to use it to reduce pollution but create millions of plastic jugs that get thrown away.
So when it comes to DEF, I take it everyone is buying whatever is cheapest?
Buy whatever has the newest date as DEF has a shelf life. It just works out that the stuff with the best date happens to be the cheapest stuff too. Supertech from walmart typically fresh mostly because it is only 7.88 for a 2.5 gallon jug.
Most truck stops have it at the pumps for the semis. It’ll be cheaper and easier there. Swipe credit card, insert nozzle, pump until it cuts out just like fuel.
Just be sure you’re very cognizant of what you’re putting in and put it into the correct tank...I’ve heard of half a dozen guys that have pumped DEF into their fuel tank by mistake because they weren’t really thinking about what they were doing and were kind of on autopilot...
Was in a truck stop the other day out in AZ Phoenix area and Blue Def was $24.95 for 2.5 gal...not sure what is going on in Phoenix but diesel at $3.69 gal, DEF just as STUPID.
