Yeah I'll document when I get around to it. It'll happen sooner rather than later since one of my turn signals doesn't work when the running lights are on.

Just placing this here since you are on the subject of moving wires etc to a toggle switch.
Below is a OEM Ford switch.
This is from a 1965 F250; 2wd; 3 on the tree; 352.

- Did some eliminating/ figuring below on the switch.

-Not sure what color wires are for the brake light.

-Seems to me the Green/white - Green/Orange are completing one side and the White/Blue - Orange/Purple are completing the other side.
Now the solid Blue and solid Green?

Then we have the brake??

Note: Touching the Blue to the Orange/Purple makes both back brake lights flash like a 4way but not the front. Maybe those are running lights but they were bright.
-So the Blue is the main power feed to the switch by my test light.
Note: Blue to Green/White is DSide front.
Note: Blue to Green is DSide rear.
Note: Blue to Green/Orange is PSide rear.
Note: Blue to White/Blue is PSide front.
Note: Blue/Yellow is the horn.

Thanks for that. I just saw your response on the other thread and thought I should store this info away somewhere.

Yes I'm temped to do the conversion, just need to figure the brake and see it they run through the switch.
With the problems I had (other posts), seems the brake is tied in some how (maybe the solid Green wire) but didn't get that far.
Would be nice to just have the horn in the steering wheel and forget the problems of the plastic switch.
We will see.

I've been trying to work through with my dad how the switch works. All my lights work more or less fine (Right turn signal blinks more slowly than the left) until I turn the running lights on, at which point it's extra bright all the time, and I get no blinker or brake light. Spent some time a month ago trying to figure all that out. I'll have to go back and check out the wiring diagram and remind myself of what we came up with.

Ya I changed out the MC pressure switch for a electric one due to some problems.
Might want to check your headlight switch maybe or maybe someone swapped the wired at the tail lights for the brake light to light.
Just grabbing for straws now.

I think it has to do with the connections in the switch for the right turn signal and brake lights. Since the left brake/turn signal works with the running lights on I think that isn't the issue. I already replaced the tail lights (they were broken) and redid the wiring back to them, so all that is fine. With the right turn signal blinking a lot slower and dimmer than the left, I'm fairly certain it's in the switch.

Looks like the colors are all different. On the wiring diagram there's a red wire that goes all the way from the switch to the MC, but I forget which of these it is

Come to think of it, my DSide was a little dimmer as well.
Replaced the flasher.
I did have the intermittent DSide problem so we will see if it continues.
I really don't want to cut the switch out until I figure out the brake light/how they work since the switch operation seems to be key.

Hum, maybe mine (1965) is the Green wire across from the Blue to the Red wires feeding the brake light switch.
But it is tied in somehow, just don't know at this point.
Maybe tomorrow I can follow the brake light wires and see.

Do you have a wiring diagram you've been using?

No, just figuring it out as I went.
Test light to Blue, alligator clip to test light, then to each wire of the switch to see what blinked and what side etc.

On my switch the orange/grey and dark green wires are to the tail lights. The white/blue and lighter green are to the front lights and the indicator lights on the dash. That leaves the grey/whiteish and another darker green wire on the left for the wire to the MC and the wire to the flasher.

What yr truck? (maybe amend your OPost ).
I didn't even think to check the dash lights, but it was bright out today.
Maybe I'll go back out and check now that you got my curiosity up.
So one wire in, then the other out to the light/brake light.??
Thanks for the info.

Good point. As far as how the brake lights work, I believe when power goes through the MC and into the switch it causes the lights to come on. When you have the additional power from one of the turn signals it causes the light to go dark. Flasher is what causes the intermittent power for the turn signals and thus blinking (one power input=light on, two power inputs=light off). At least that's how I had it explained to me.
Not a direct answer to your question, but that should help with figuring out how the system works. And here's the wiring diagram I've been working with. It's for a 66, but should be similar enough to you.
