What upgrades can I get that will increase my HP, for a low,
affordable price? What other upgrades have do you like for this year

 

What motor? On trucks you dont want hp, you want torque, take a look at the acura integra type R rice burner, 103 ft/pds of torque and 190 hp...at about 8000 rpm, think that motor would be fast in anything but a shopping cart?

If you want more horsepower you are going to have to spend some money, there is no cheap alternative. Multiple things can be done; cams, headers, exhaust, ignition, and on and on.

Me personally, in my exhaust system I have over $350! Ignition upgrades will cost you around $250+ if done right with the right components.

So just in that right there with just two bases covered on horsepower you have $600 tied up. You have to know what you want out of it, you can't just bolt on parts, and add the up to's off of the boxes and expect to get another 150 horsepower by adding a few bolt ons. I have run into a few people who have quoted this, and got laugheed at!

Good point hotrod, yah If I added up the "up to's" on my upgrades I'd be motoring around 325 horses...LoL, dyno shows 250

I haven't done that much to mine but I can try to figure it by the up to scale!

Base: 185 (I think that's right)
Headers : 25
K&N Filter: 15
Flowmasters: 35
Plug wires: 15
Coil: 10

Gee let's see that's uh..... 285, and that doesn't count my jet engine mounted underneath! lol
