08 leaf springs

I had a leaf snap in my 08 this weekend. Wasn't hauling anything in it just driving around. Was the leaf with the clamp that goes around the other leafs. Truck is a 4x4 super cab 5.4. Rear spring code is m which I think is 1500# per spring. Is that correct? I haven't hauled much with it yet since I just got it in October but tow a 1500# boat and may get a small single axle camper this spring. How much harsher unloaded is a 1900# spring going to be? Should I just stick with 1500# ones? Thanks.

I personally hate how every 1/2t squats the second you put a couple hundred pounds in the bed, so I always opt for stiffer. A firmer ride doesn't bother me, though, and it'll corner with less body roll.

You could also just source a used pack and replace the single leaf that broke. Use fresh u-bolts whatever you do.

How many leafs do you have in the pack?

2/1 (1,500 lb rating) vs 3/1 (1,900 lb rating) … Hmmmm?

If I was gonna be hauling heavy, like campers, etc … I'd maybe invest in a set of adjustable overloads.

Not mine, but looks like they would help hugely?

3 leaf. Went to a u pull it to grab a leaf but was having a difficult time getting the guy at the yard to adjust a truck on the jack stands so I could get the spring out. All the vehicles are on jack stands on their axles and you can't use a jack in there. First he told me he couldn't find me although I saw that the loader never left the garage. Then when I did get him to finally come out he said it was too icy.

Normally when we have customers who opt for the 3/1 (1,900 lb rating) compared to the 2/1 (1,500 lb rating) they don't feel much of a difference when it comes to the ride quality, maybe a tad firmer but not much. I would say the biggest difference is the height of the rear. The higher capacity spring has a slightly higher free arch plus the extra weight will get you some height also.

If you're looking for just the No. 2 leaf which has the clips we have them available. All brand new so you won't have to go to another yard. Just let me know.
