i read in a post about Eastwood making an “under the hood paint” did a little bit of research on it and figured I would give it a try, that’s the main reason she got to this stage, so far I’m satisfied with the way things turned out. I’m satisfied with the results so far. The look is much cleaner underneath
That task went better than I expected, the next task is the hardest so far, what color to paint the old girl, I have been struggling since Nov of 2013 when I started the restoration and still am today. I am truly convinced that the reason I see the older generations enjoying older restomods is because it takes that long to finally finish them.... no offense to anyone out there by the way!
What is wrong with the factory color cant go wrong with that most of the time.
Not seeing the whole truck but maybe a 2nd color of the same year to change it up some?
BTW who will be doing the painting, you or a shop?
On my 81 F100 flare side I went with the factory colors, it was flat black when I got it and hate that and even more so with the hot sun beating down on the truck in the summer.
It took 4 years on the cab off frame rebuild with some mods added but look factory.
I did all the work myself, yes even the painting.
I have a few more tings to do but I am having too much fun driving it. I built it to drive and took to work, 30+ milers each way, all last week even in the rain.
Thanks for the thoughts, the original colors are what I’m leaning towards but maybe with some metal flake and a darker or deeper color. A shop will be painting her, my paint days are over and I don’t have the facility to handle that.

I have another project that the factory was a dark blue metal flake but not enough flake for my liking so I picked another dark blue with more flake in it.
I think when parked next to other cars with the factory color it will be hard to tell the difference.
I say look at different makes of cars & trucks to come up with the colors you like. They could even be from a Dodge & a Chevy but if you like them then go for it.
Only thing to keep in mined is you need to know the year the color is on and most if not all cars & trucks 2 stage (BC/CC).
There is nothing wrong with that as I think most pro painters would want to paint it that way.
I am old school and was painting in my garage so I did my truck like it came from the factory, single stage paint.
