First post, I apologize if my verbiage isn’t exactly correct. 2005 f250. Installed these last week, the led strip has to be wired into something so I bought some t taps to jump off the small side marker bulb. After successfully tapping the passenger side I flipped the running lights on to see if it worked. Everything came on, the led strip, the turn signal bulb and the small side marker. After repeating the same process on the driver side, flipped on the running lights again and nothing. No small side marker, no turn signal bulb, no led strip on either side. But the turn signal bulb still flashes when the turn signal or hazards are engaged. All fuses are good. Very limited mechanical experience so any advice is greatly appreciated tia.
If it was me, I’d throw the aftermarket lights into the trash, and remove the T-taps and they are just a failure waiting to happen.
Problem with T-tapping into an existing lights is sometimes this can cause really weird problems. Sometimes a cars CPU has a predetermined amount of current for each line out and if you change that at all it can think sometimes wrong and stop sending current to that leg.
You could try tapping a different line and hoping for different results. Or you could use a piggy back fuse, off a fuse that energizes after you turn the key on.
Thanks for the input. I’ve disconnected the t taps but still having the same issue, is there a relay or something else besides a fuse I could have blown? I plan on disconnecting the batteries next to see if that will reset everything. If that gets me my stock running lights back I’ll just wire the led strips to the battery with an in-line switch. Thanks again for any input
Sadly you get what you pay for with those crappy Chinese parts. If they did work now the lenses would be cloudy and yellowing before the end of summer.
