Hi fellas...havent been here in a while. Guess the ol girl runnin good. While driving my break pedal goes soft to the floor unless i pump it and she hardens up. Pin hole somewhere?..dont seem to be losing fluid at this time but this also just started. Any ideas would be wonderdul.
Rather than playing 20 questions ... HINT/TIP: Put your -complete- vehicle information (year, model, cab, trim, engine, wheelbase, _x4 drive, mileage, modifications, etc., etc.) in your signature -OR- provide it in your posting(s).
Damn sorry fellas...i thought truck info was in my sig. My bad. 2013 fx4 5.0l. 95k on it Just got in from checking it a bit more.had my wife keep pressure while i looked around...no visible leak. Original brake fluid. Pads and rotars new 18 months ago.
Is there a proper sequence to bleed them ?
Front left to right sort of thing ? Tks again fella
just looked it up...gonna go change/bleed fluid.
Will post results.
Ok...new dot 3 fluid. Syringed all i could from resevoir. Filled with new and bled system til remainder of old fluid was gone keeping resevoir to level while doing so. Same problem.
I'll sit idle in yard....can press pedal to floor, release wait 3 seconds try it again and to the floor she goes. If i pump it it will harden up and slooowly work its way to the floor.
Replace master cylinder. These were known to be an issue especially on 2013 trucks. They also like to leak fluid into the booster and ruin which requires both to be replaced.
Right on fellas...got the new master cylinder installed this morning.....bench bled first and all that good stuff....all fixed. Nice firm pedal again. Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated.
