Okay...I am going to ask a lot here. I am looking for an ex nut who lives in Marshall County and has a very clean well kept ex. A guy who maybe fixes things before they break and all that. A certain guy comes to mind for some of you. I have more suspension noise on a bumpy road than I believe is normal. I would like to meet up with someone and either have them take a ride with me or drive my truck on a slow or bumpy road.
I have been told it is probably the sway bar. The sway bar is a good and tight though. I want to know why it is making so much noise. I need to know so I can begin to repair it before spring really arrives. I want it ready to hit the road for camping ect. So does anyone live in or pass through Marshall County on a regular basis? Thanks
It is a 2004 with 120,000 miles on it. The suspension and most of the components if not all are stock new and never been replaced. I carry the weight of a V10. I have put new shocks on it.
At a 120,000 miles, I would start with replacing your ball joints. The lower ones are probably shot. Motorcraft units are good. Don't get the Moogs. At least on my vehicle, they would constantly stick and I would be jerking my steeering wheel back and forth just trying to steer straight. After about 9,000 miles, l got the Motorcrafts, which have done well. Now, after about 70,000 miles, I'm replacing these with Spicer units, as per Pirate.
I've got the lightweight 6.8, as well.
Good luck with finding the culprit..
fyi, Spicer supplies motorcraft with ball joints and is the OEM assembly line parts supplier to ford.
I have never cut apart a motorcraft to compare them directly to the spicer service part to see if they are the same spec but my hunch is they are equals.
