Does anyone know if Ford actually made a crewcab unibody? I caught this on Instagram and it looks factory, but I don’t remember seeing one back in the day.
Technically Ford didn't produce Crew Cabs themselves until 1965 but prior to that they would send trucks out to one of a few coach building type vendors who would modify the trucks to be crew cabs to include longer frames sometimes or shortened beds sometimes. Crown Coach and others. Sometimes trucks were modified by owners or body shops on a one off basis, too.
The giveaway sign it isn't Ford is the hinges for the back doors are often exposed.
In 1965 and 1966 Ford only produced crew cabs using a 147" wheelbase on F250 trucks and a 152" wheelbase in the F350 series. Any F100 trucks that are crew cab were converted.
Interesting, the shop must have really had to beef up the frame with all the problems from the standard 8’ bed. I’ve seen homebuilt SuperCab Slicks before (on the Internet).
