Forest, LANDYOT is right that an anti-roll bar is the best first upgrade to your X. ANY high-CG vehicle needs anti-roll bars, especially if it is used for towing.
It IS curious that Ford only started adding the anti-roll bar now (late in life cycle of vehicle). I assume (maybe wrongly) that they avoided this in the past for the cost factor. There may also be a "head toss" issue as I have felt on early Jeep Grand Cherokees. Those of you with rear Ford and/or Hellwig anti-roll bars--how do they affect the ride?
I am going to add the anti-roll bars, just trying to decide between Ford OE and Hellwig. Opinions?
Don't know about the Ford SD rear bar which is supposed to be a 30 MM bar...
but I DID have the Helwig on an '02 Ex that was SUPER !
And the current '03 Ex has a factory rear bar, but it's much smaller than the Helwig unit...
I will probably swap it out for the helliwg, it's that much better than the small bar I have on now in that it still FEELS like my current Ex wants to roll a LOT more than the '02 with the helwigg did...
