Hi all - it's been a while since I've had a post. Old man winter doesn't seem to be showing his face much here in Connecticut and I've got the spring itch to get out with the truck. I noticed something that's actually really frustrating and I can't actually wrap my head around how to repair it. The front drip rail is welded to the frame under it, and it's not sealed so water gets in that little crevice. I have rust bubbling out. How on earth do I clean that area without ripping the roof off?!

Not knowing your finish on your truck I'm not sure if this will work but if the paint job isn't great or it needs paint, one thing you can do is neutralize the rust with phosphoric acid. There is a chemical called Ospho (Greenish liquid) I get at our local hardware store that I use on rust. It neutralizes the rust and turns it a grayish/blackish color that can then be prepped for sealer, primer or paint.
I primarily use it on metal I can seal and prime after it dries, but I have used it on welded seams before, similar to your issue. Never had an issue with rust returning after using it.
I ask about your paint because being a liquid it will run everywhere, so you don't want to get it on good paint since it's an acid. Also, please wear gloves and wear a mask if you're going to use this stuff, it's pretty nasty.
