good test camera for front end
good test camera for front end
Hi folks, just trying to see if anyone has a recommendation for a decent camera that I could mount under the front end of the truck while driving so I can see what the hell is shaking on the highway. Had 2 different Ford dealers look at it, first one was useless but the last one I think solved my death wobble problem by replacing some parts in the front end. No more death wobble after going over bumps on highway, but still getting a slight steering wheel vibration at highway speeds. It comes and goes. I'd like to record under there to see if I can pinpoint what exactly is shaking. I'm thinking the drag link or track bar may be causing issue. Have had tires balanced, alignment, tie rod ends and track bar ball joints replaced. Installed fox 2.0 shocks and ATS steering stabilizer. Drives fine under 60. On highway I feel like I'm shakin' down the road. Especially when turning right or left. Doesn't death wobble anymore going across the expansion joints/bridges but something isn't right. I will say that prior to my last service I was getting death wobble around 55-60mph by just turning slight left/right to follow curves in the road. Can't believe after 6 visits to Ford dealers over past 10 months no one has solved the entire problem.
I have an appointment at a highly recommended commercial truck repair garage in a few weeks, so I'd like to give them as much info as I can.
I've seen some videos on youtube from underneath trucks, curious as to which camera to get. Thanks!

Dang it... I saw a few youtuber videos about this topic while i was watching about my front dana 60 axle rebuilds. I don't remember what exactly they all did but, it all seemed to be the same solution.
Check your tires, if all appears good, try having them "Road force Balanced"
. Most tire shops cannot do this. But some dealers, big tire shops, & commercial shops can. Getting a large truck tire to run fully smooth at highway speed can be tricky. At the factory Ford performed road force balancing when it built the truck, but it probably has not been since, as most tire places do not own the equipment required. Additionally the quality of tires overall has been poor lately. Some tires just cannot be made to run smooth. As an example my brothers truck was glass smooth on the highway, then he had new tires installed. now he has a high speed vibration that cannot be fixed. Many different shops have tried and road force balancing helped a lot, but unfortunately the only complete fix will be new tires. Good Luck, Russ
