Hi new to the forum, I recently bought a 1972 F-100 4wd w/390 and manual 4-speed. The previous owner upgraded the front-end to disk by swapping out the original axle and installed a 1978 Bronco axle and installed power steering off a 1977 F-250. What I'm looking to do is swap out the 390 for a 460 and the manual 4-speed for a C-6; are these a good combo and what mod's do I need to install it into my 72 F-100. I was thinking of also replacing the origianl transfer case; any ideas on which one. Also since there's a Bronco front end and I wnat to beef up the suspension do I get parts for the 78 Bronco, or 72 truck? Any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks
welcome this is an awesome place too be if you are a ford truck owner not only do you get excellent help here, and learn new stuff everyone is real friendly.
Is any thing wrong with the current motor? or you just want the 460 instead, 390's are good motors though.
well anyhow if you could let us know what your plans are for the use of the truck we could help a little more on stuff.
Hey Beast, well the 390 is ready for a rebuild anyway and I was able to pick up a '77 460 at a good price. I want my hulkster to be on steroids, lol. I plan on using it for pulling and 4-wheeling and thought what the heck why not drop a monster under the hood. Thanks for the reply.
