Push bars

I have 2 push bars that I'm 99% sure are 70's fords. However I can't remember what years they are from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the first one it's 35 and a half inches wide on the inside so that would be the outside of the frame rails.

1st one of yours looks like the angle of a 73-76 bumper, or maybe a 77-79?? 2nd one of yours is NOT for a 73-79 Ford it has 2 bumper face bolt tabs, 73-79 has 1 bumper face bolt, and then the one on top. So maybe the 2nd one of yours is for an 80's and up Ford? My chrome one is 100% 78/79 bumper. On my black one it mounts using the bolt for the front leaf spring on a 4wd F250 and the top edge bolt.

First one sure looks like 78-79. Second is 80-86.
My chrome bar mounts Similar to your black one.

would be interested to see where exactly your black one bolts behind the bumper, im guessing to the frame ears?

Thank you, however I don't have anything to mount it on... I'm in Michigan maybe someone local would let me try to fit them.

Hey Hickey Ent, welcome.
My first thought for the second one is old Chevy due to it's bolt spacing. The GM frames were 34-ish, while the Fords were 36-ish I thought. (well, I actually thought they were 38, but sounds like not)
The rear frame width on the high-boys was narrower to GM width, but the front where the bars would go was still the wider spacing.

I used to have the shapes memorized back in the day, but that was way too long ago!
Sorry no help. At this point even the '72 and older Ford trucks look to have the right profile. Guess I'm just not seeing it.

Anyway, good luck on finding the right match, and welcome to FTE again.

Could be 80s GM. Their front bumper has a very similar shape on the face. At this point, maybe a test fit would be in order. Whats your plan with them? Looked like they were boxed up. Im not interested, just curious. Maybe, the first piece to a build?

And yes, welcome to the group. There’s a lot of good people here, always glad to see one more.

Would be interested in this also, That is exactly what I was thinking. Been a lot of years since I heard that name. Used to see all their adds in the 4x4 mags.

Yeah, and my favorite is probably still the ole' K5 being hoisted into the tree by a Sidewinder winch!
My local 4wd store (Jim's 4wd) in Sunnyvale had one of the Hicky K5's (the '73-'75 variety) on display in his showroom for awhile. Either taht, or one that at least had every single Hickey accessory on it.
I remember being surprised at the time that it was there the first time I walked in the store. HUGE Hickey parts display, with the Blazer in the middle of it roped off. Pretty cool that a local guy had some connections and figured it was a rolling advertisement that the company spread around sometimes to good customers. But never actually got around to asking how it came to be there.

Stopped in a small 4wd store (single bay shop) in Southern CA that the owner's son was running and the son remembered the early Hickey shop in the property behind building all kinds of rigs and testing parts. I think he even said that the original "Blazer" (a custom off-road rig prior to Chevy using the name) was built there. I think the shop was in Oxnard, or Ventura, or one of those towns down on the coast north of LA.
Dang, now I'm going to have to dig through my card file to see if I can remember where that was.

Cool story, with us living in the middle of the country we could only see stuff like that in the mags. I do remember that add though. Being from Missouri we do lay claim to Bigfoot. The first time I meet Bob, our 4x4 club had sent him a letter and told him we would like to see his truck if he ever came through town. One cold snowy night in Feb, 1980 he called the night before and said he would be coming through town the next night. Springfield Mo and he would meet us on the mall parking lot on the north side of town. we had around 15 trucks with people. It was dark when he finally rolled into town. Coming down the road you could see the windshield of Bigfoot over the top of the Winnebago he was pulling it with. Awesome sight! He pulled in the parking lot and stopped. Door didn't open on the Winny for several long minutes. Bob finally came out zipping up his insulated coveralls and said "you boys help me unload her and we'll take her for a spin." It was still spitting snow and ice the whole time. Doing burnouts in the parking lot till he broke an axle. Then we loaded her back up and went to Denny's for a meal. Bob checked with MO Highway Patrol for road conditions and off to California they went. Had his whole family with him. This was while he was still running the 48's.
Will never forget that experience.

What a great parking lot meet-n-greet (and donut-fest!) that must've been!
Cold or not...

The "Cactus Smasher" style adopted, and perhaps develiped(?) by the Stroppe team.
