hey everybody, if i buy a 50 oz. imbalance 164 tooth flexplate for my 86 5.0, will it work? i need a flex plate becasue a took a 86 5.0 out of a crown vic (auto) and bolted it up to a borg warner t-18 four speed. i can get it for 50 bucks, sound like the right part??? alex
I believe the 302 balance changed to 50oz after 1980 so it sounds like you have the right weight. As far as the tooth count goes I am not sure. You may already know this, but just in case... One other thing you will need is a bracket for the clutch pedal linkage that connected to the old block. The 80s 302s do not have this threaded mount on the side of the block. I think I got mine from Wild Horses but it has been so long I can't remember! If you can't find one e-mail me and I will go through my reciepts.
do to the way the exhaust sits i'm going to convert to the hydraulic clutch. i have all the brackets but they won't jive with the way the engine sits with the standard clutch set up. thanks for the advice. alex
