Sync 3 , software 3.3 build 19052 , Android auto icon missing on head unit , truck is brand new just picked it up a few days ago , 2019 F150 XLT 302a trim , i downloaded the app plugged it into the usb on the truck and no icon
The problem is I don't have or can't get AA on my head unit , i checked the 2nd screen , I'm thinking it's my cord, I downloaded the app on my Samsung S9 and allowed all permissions and then plugged into one of the usb in the truck
Did you open the app on your phone prior to plugging it in?
And are you plugging the cord into the usb for sync?
I'm pretty sure I had the app open when i plugged it into the usb , I will uninstall the app from phone and reinstall and try again tomorrow, I'm using a 3.0 type C charging cord

Are you using the cable that came with your phone or an aftermarket one.
Sometimes, this can and does make a difference.
Also, if it’s an “aftermarket cable”, I’ve heard that Android Auto can be finicky if the cable is too long.
Try a Master Reset of the SYNC system. This might bring up the missing icon.

I just did a master reset and still no icon , i'm guessing there is no sense wasting money on a cord till I at least get the icon on my head unit, or do you think the app should put the icon on the screen with a proper cord ?

I just did some digging and it looks like that icon only appears in settings once it has detected an android auto comparable phone. I would swap out the cord and give it another try.

That’s a very good question but if you still have the stock cable that came with your Android phone, it wouldn’t hurt to try it.
A good way to narrow things down would be to try your phone and the cable you have on another Ford vehicle.......if the same problem happens, then it has to be your phone or the cable and if not, then it’s either a
problem with the head unit or the actual USB port in the vehicle.
