Hi,
after giving up the search , trying my luck here, i am sure one of you will be able to help me.
I am looking for a 1966, 2WD, 3 on the tree steering column.
since i live in Israel, it is impossible to find one locally because there arent any.
also, i cant just go to my local junkyard and pick one up.
the plan is to convert my 66 to electric power steering, i have almost everything i need, just dont want to cut my steering column and would prefer making the modification on another one and saving the original.
the idea is to keep the three on the tree and have the electric motor fabricated and installed with the column.
since it dont need the steering wheel, i assume it is easy to ship, and can be shipped to NJ , i will make sure it will be shipped to israel from there.
would appreciate any help i can get.
thank you.
Raviv.
Raviv, Just cut it and weld it back. Please understand I realize the importance, but there is no strain or hard pulling, so I believe it is safe to weld back.

actually, with the electric motor inline, there is a rather significant force on it.
although the is not why i would like to get a second column.
i would like to keep the one installed now, and modify another one in my fab shop, as i dont know how long will it take me or even if will be able to pull it through.
thanks, but would prefer getting another one, any help will be appreciated.
(dont know why people dont want to deal with me when they hear i am from Israel, as im ok with shipping to new-jersey where i can have it shipped abroad)
I believe the search can be expanded to include 67 thru 72 column, usually find them on ebay quite often. If unsuccessful, another alternative would be to go with a later model column which is shorter and the steering box should not be an issue. Have seen where the original column to dash bracket is removed, which is spot welded, then attached to the later model replacement perhaps member(s) who have went this route will chime-in? I am not sure whether the original rag joint can be used? There was a later model tilt steering column on ebay did not check to determine if the seller shipped internationally. There is also the Bendix steering box which is shorter and should be able to use the original steering column however the Bendix can be problematic. Anyhow food for thought?
