So Sync 3 gives you the 10" screen in the center of the truck. With Sync 3 you can use Android Auto correct? Do you still have Sync's navigation system? Its just not voice activated? And they want an extra $500 to turn on voice navigation for Sync?
Non-nav Sync3 works with Android auto so Google maps, Waze, etc... It's still voice activated (through Google assistant and the buttons on steering wheel) and works great. I'd never pay extra for the factory nav myself.
Keep in mind that Android auto only works when phone is plugged into USB port.
The thing Ford nav HAD going for it was the ability to work without a cellular data connection. Now you can download map sections to google maps or Waze ahead of time so they will work in areas with no data but can still navigate with stand-alone gps signal.
Upper trims can send the factory navigation to the cluster screen which Android auto can't. EDIT: It was confirmed that Android Auto CAN send this to cluster with Sync 3.4, see post 8

Maybe I've not used Waze enough through Sync, but I found it to react too slow for me when I've used it.

I haven't tried waze so I can't comment. No issues with google maps through android auto here - that is my primary screen 99% of the time unless I forget to plug my phone in or going for a short trip.
Google purchased waze in 2013 and has since integrated the features into google maps. You can see the same information on road hazards, speed traps, etc... The only downside is I haven't found a way to report these through the android auto interface.

Since I upgraded sync to 3.4 , android auto does send directions to the cluster screen
It’s a 99.9% certainty that screens larger than the current 8 inch will start and appear in the 2021 F150 first and trickle down to the SD’s a year later or maybe in the 2021 SD.
Unfortunately, I’m sure one will have to jump up to a trim package above the XLT to get it.
Can I listen to Tune In Radio or other radio Android apps AND see and use WAZE or Google Maps at the same time?
Thanks
You can listen to Pandora for sure while running Google Maps. Was doing that yesterday. Pandora is listed in the Sync 3/ Android Auto supported apps.
I'm a new fan of Google Maps with Android Auto. I was liking the Ford NAV until I changed my route while on a Ford NAV route. Ford Nav would not "recalculate" and insisted on going back to where I veered off the route even when I got to my destination.
