Transmission compatibly
I have a 2006 Lincoln Mark Lt sitting on a 2004 Ford F150. My transmission lost reverse so the million dollar question is what is the difference between the 2004 trans and the 2006. The salvage yard says they are not compatible. So what's the deal?

I think the 6 spd didn't come out until the 09 body style. The 4r70E and 4r75E would be what the 04 and 06 may have it them. From what I remember they physically can be swapped but there is something with the electronics that may not be the same. Something with the OSS reading if I'm not mistaken causes some shift issues. There is a tag number on the transmission you can get and see if they are the same.

I wouldn't try to cross model years on these without knowing from a reliable source if they'll work
