Question 2004 or 2006?

looking at replacing my 96 F-250 with a newer model. So far, with in my price range I have found a 2004 regular cab with 89K and a 2006 extended cab with 101K.

I know the earlier 6.0L had some troubles, wondering if the 2006 engine might be better. 2006 should also have the 5spd auto, would I see any better fuel mileage from the 2006?

Both years have the same transmission.

2004 depends on the build date of the engine for updates over 2003 and 2006 was known for the high pressure snap to connect fitting failure. Cold starts with a minor leak, no start when hot. If you can run an OASIS report from the dealer on the 2006, the Snap to Connect may already have been done.
