Spedo accuracy
My buddy was telling me the Explorer Sport Tracks are about 5 mph off on the speedometer. I was wondering if anyone had experienced any speedometer inaccuracy in the 250’s and 350’s?

With the original stock tires, my 1999 F-250 was right on at highway speeds, and read a little high at less-than-highway speeds, per my Garmin GPS. Now I have BFG 295's on, which are about 5.25 % bigger, and it reads low at highway speeds, and pretty accurate at city speeds.
I always figured the error would be linear, but it is not.

I have 285's on my F350 and had the ford dealer recalibrate the spedo. I have a Garmin GPS 5 on the dash and it says that at freeway speeds the spedo is 1 mph low and just about dead on at city speeds.

Rember if you are using the speed on the GPS. The GPS speed is line of sight. The road has hills and will change your speed by a small amount. Due to the distence over ground isnot the same as line of sight.
