I just got off the phone with progressive insurance and asked them if my comprehensive insurance covers contaminated fuel (water). He told me no.
Ok, what exactly does comp cover I asked. Hitting a animal, fire (depending how it started) burglary, vandalism. So I asked him what if some punk decided to put water in my fuel tank in the middle of the night is this covered under vandalism. He wouldn't answer me. WTF dude! Its your job to know.
So basically, if I get a bad batch of fuel, im SOL and coming out of pocket $12k or so.
My Traveler's policy says this about comprehensive:
“Comprehensive” means loss to “your covered auto” or a “non-owned auto” not caused by “collision”. Losses caused by the following are not “collision” losses but are “comprehensive” losses: a. Missiles or falling objects; b. Fire; c. Theft or larceny; d. Explosion or earthquake; e. Windstorm; f. Hail, water or flood; g. Malicious mischief or vandalism; h. Riot or civil commotion; i. Contact with bird or animal; or j. Breakage of glass. If breakage of glass is caused by a “collision”, you may elect to have it considered a loss caused by “collision”
