Hey yall I have a 88 bronco with 680k miles on it. The engine is a 351 Windsor with an EFI system. My supervisor gave it to me for free after he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. It sat and wouldn't start for a year with him. When I got it, One day it just up and started randomly and ran perfectly for a week. I changed the battery, fuel filter, and installed nickel sparkplugs to it. It cranks but wont turnover completely. I need help figuring out of its a compression, or fuel issue. Thanks very much !!!
Try spraying some fuel down the throttle body while cranking. If it starts it is a fuel issue. If it does find the valve on the fuel rail, it will look like the end of a tire stem. Use that to see if you are getting pressure to the rail. If you are use a noid light to see if you injectors are popping.
I'm an aspiring mechanic so ima have to google how to do that, but I will definitely try it. I'm in alaska so I think it being 20 degrees outside probably isnt helping the fuel problem.
I did replace the air filter with a new one so it can breath better.
It sounds like it. Next step is to get a noid light, unplug a injector and plug the noid light in. crank the truck to see if the injectors are trying to pop. And are you sure you are getting spark? A easy way to check this is unplug a plug wire from a spark plug and put a extra plug in the wire set it against a good ground and look at the spark. The spark should be blue if it isn't then fuel is not the problem. Have you tired Spraying gas in the intake yet?
I will get a noid light and try that method along with spraying gas in the intake. I installed new spark plugs and checked the starter relay. I'll see if it's getting enough spark 5he way you mentioned. Could it be ignition related by chance?

There is no need in having the noid light plugged in and spraying fuel in the intake. If it starts while spraying fuel in the intake it will tell you if it is a fuel or ignition issue.
When you spray fuel/starting fluid give it a couple shots while cranking, don't spray a whole lot in at one time.

Update brother, so I sprayed starter fluid in the intake, and it would catch for 2 seconds and turn off. So with it being 30 degrees outside and possibly a spark issue that's what I think is wrong
Sounds like a fuel issue to me but it is not a bad idea to check your spark. The easiest way is to unplug one of the wires from the plug put a extra plug in the wire and set it against a good ground, crank the truck and watch the end of the plug to see if it is putting off a blue spark. You can do that with any wire, I would suggest checking several of them.
