I've got an '80 F-250 4x4 with a 300 I6 and four speed that has about 345K miles on it. After a few years of holding it in third gear (it pops out when you let off the gas), it's gotten so that I can't even hold it in gear, so I guess it's time to yank it outta there and rebuild it . I would like to order the parts (third gear, syncronizers and bearings) before I pull the tranny to save downtime, but I have no idea what 4 speed is in it. Could somebody help out? If you can't tell me, could you me to somewhere that I can find the info, or narrow it down to a few choices? TIA
More than likely you have the NP 435, but the other possibilites are the T170 and the T-19. If first gear (granny) is not synchronized, then it is an NP435.
